Zwölferhorn Cable Car one of the best cable cars offering panoramic views in the Salzburg area. 

• The cable car departs from the centre of St. Gilgen, right on the shore of Lake Wolfgang. The station: Zwölferhorn Cable Car GmbH.
• The modern gondola lift takes you up to the Zwölferhorn (1,522 m) in 11 minutes, covering an elevation gain of around 908 metres. 
• From up there, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the To Wolfgangsee, and on a clear day, you can also see Lake Mondsee, Lake Fuschl and the mountains of the Salzkammergut.
• Several easy and moderate hiking trails start from the mountain top. The walk to the summit takes about 15–20 minutes from the upper station.
• The mountain is one of the best-known paragliding launch sites in Austria, so you often see paragliders taking off.
•  There is a mountain restaurant near the top station, with a terrace offering panoramic views.

• If you only have 2–3 hours and would like to enjoy spectacular Alpine views without having to go on a long hike.
• It’s ideal for families and older people alike.
• The light is at its best for photography in the morning and late afternoon.

If you’re setting off from Salzburg, this is one of the best half-day trips; afterwards, you can even go for a walk along the shores of Lake St Gilgen or take a boat trip on Lake Wolfgangsee.
