Transportation
By car
Transport by car in and out of the city:
Well, in itself in the city, and in the city centre, it is particularly difficult to get around.
What to look out for?
in particular, there is usually a 30km/h limit on the roads in the city. - and not by chance (!),
there are a lot of cyclists who would ride very boldly, the roads are narrow in the city centre and in many places, be careful!
on the other hand, you are unlikely to find a parking space on the surface, and if you do, you should check whether it is paid, ,
and whether a stop is only allowed for a short period.
Parking garages are not cheap, 1 example, in the picture next to me!
All in all, it is recommended to drop off the car (the Europark shopping centrefree parking during the day, the underground garage is cool in summer)! And there's good food here too, check it out!
(note: free parking is not available in the immediate vicinity of the city centre)
From here - Europark), the trolleybus 1 leaves every 10-15 minutes and takes you to Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz in 15 minutes,
where the pedestrianised streets of the city centre begin. I recommend it!
In town: public transport is very cheap.
for a 24h ticket example: (adult ticket)
from a vending machine or mobile app 4.90 €
for all buses, trolleys and trains within the city (Salzburger Lokalbahn ) also applies.
To the city:
There are several ways to get to Salzburg (there is a flixbus, but I haven't tried it),
by train Budapest - Salzburg 5 hours 13 minutes
(take the direct train, as you won't make the transfer even with a slight delay,
and the train is not waiting...)
Trains departing at odd hours are non-stop, i.e. 7:40, 9:40 etc.
The train ticket can be purchased ÖBB-and the MÁVat you can also buy,
and if you buy it in advance, even 1 month in advance, it can be considerably cheaper.
Buy a seat - in my opinion - by all means!
(i.e. don't expect to find a free place, as there are virtually no free places on weekends,
and during the week 🙂 they will probably keep setting you up, because that's where their ticket is)
